ITINERARY:
Day 01 Rawalpindi to Abbottabad
if the clients arrive
with British airways at 5.15.am to Islamabad and upon arrival our guide will
escort them to the hotel Shalimar for breakfast. After having breakfast
journey commencing to Abbottabad for 3hrs drive, 121km via Taxila visiting
Gandahra civilization, sites. Abbottabad is in the foothills of Himalaya and
once British had garrison in late 18th century. Compare to Rawalpindi this
place is quite cool and pleasant to take a walk around best for O/night,
Abbott Greens or Abbott lodges.
Day 02 Abbottabad to Chilas
Our journey commence from the foot hills of Himalaya towards
Hazara divisions to Besham for lunch about 4hrs, 151km. Reaching at the
Indus Delta in Thakot basin from where we have to cross over left bank of
Indus. Our lunch stop will be in Besham Continental in the main Bazaar.
After lunch pass by Shangla Swat valley and entering Indus Khohistan where
Alexander the great once seiged Khohistanis in his invasion to this region
came through Malakand NWFP. 3hrs complete drive 500m above Indus to the
Kohistan administrative headquarters Dassu. Will be stop for tea/toilet and
further 3hrs drive to Chilas with gradual valley windings along the Indus
River. Upon arrival checked in the Chilas Inn.
Day 03
Chilas to Hunza Karimabad
Diamer Chilas on Karakoram highway one
of the northern areas district bordering with down country and first town to
be host tourists in the season. Mountains kingdom along Indus River to the
three great mountains ranges, confluence make diversion of Skardu and Gilgit
valley. From there beyond north-west towards Gilgit city the administrative
headquarter for the Northern Areas about 150km, 3hrs drive. Our lunch stop
will be at Rakaposhi view point in Gulmat Nageyr. According to our itinerary
after lunch heading towards north on KKH to Karimabad for 1hour drive at
2500m. The famous Hunza valley, among the mountain paradise being trade
route with China back from the centuries. Our stay with Hill Top Hotel. The
rulers of Hunza ruled a small X state till 1976. Sightseeing in the town,
visit Baltit fort 750years, main Bazar of Single Street.
Day 04 Karimabad to Hopar & Bricho Kor
Morning breakfast at
6.30.am and ride on Villy's jeeps for 45minutes drive to Hoper village.
4-5hrs, 10.8km, 510m ascent-: Famous Rash lake (4694m) is a turquoise lake
on a ridge between the Hispar valley and Barpu glacier with incredible
mountain panoramas.Our trek commence from Hoper village 2790m, descend
10minutes walk to Boaltar glacier's edge. The crossing is relatively short
takes 30 minutes to the end and through Shishkin meadows uphill for
20minutes to the first view of Barpu glacier. Cross it on a consolidated
trail in 45minutes to the ablation valleyon its south-east margin with views
of Diran peak to the west, Spantik to the sout, Ultar peaks and Bublimotin
to the north. The trail along in ablation valley junipers and wild roses and
reaching to the Bapu Shaffer huts in the pastures where tamarisks offer
shade. Beyond the grassy camp site of Bericho Kor (3300m), Baricho means
musicians, Kor- cave. Meals will be served in the camp.
Day
05 Baricho Kor to Chidin Harai 4/haf - 5/half hrs, 4.1km, 1140m
ascent-:
Having breakfast start the trek is relentlessly steep, and
dry with no water along the ridge up to chidin Harai. The trail rises
steadily north and descending from the ridge. Climb 2/half hrs, to four
hours through artemsia, thyme and scattered junipers to the ridge top
(4020m). A faint trail follows a rocky canal, which leads to Chidin Harai
(4440m) huts an grassy areas for beautiful camping is a perfect spot to
enjoy sunset & sunrise on the the imposing hispar Muztagh to the
north-east. This wall of peaks includes; Lupgar Sar (7200m); Momhil Sar
(7343m); Trivor (7728m); Mulungutti Sar (7025m); and Destaghill Sar )7885m).
Enjoy meals in the camp.
Day 06 Chidin Harai to Rash Phari
1.30hrs, 2.1km, 254, ascent-:
while having breakfast one can enjoy
the sunrise of Hispar Muztagh and get ready for the final push upwards to
Rash Phari is an easy stroll compared with the climb to Chidin Harai; Chidin
means soft stone pot, Harai- shepherd hut. Early June often there is snow
covered along the wide trail up with gentle walk up to the Rash Peak summit.
Where you catch your first glimpse of K 2 straightforward scramble up talus
takes you to the rocky summit of Rash peak. K 2is dramatically larger, Broad
peak (8047m) and Gasherbrum IV (7925) looms above Hispar pass 5151m. Having
this all mountain vistas descent to the camp, leave nothing but foot prints.
Day 07 Chidin Harair to Huro 3hrs to 3/half hrs, 1400m
descent-:
After finished all ascents easy walk downhill but little
dusty between lower Gutens huts to Huro 1400m descent. Here at this stage we
say good bye to our porters with their wages paid and load our gears in the
jeeps. Start our journey back to Karaimabad on un-sealed road for 15km and
hot lunch in the hotel. Dust off and take fresh shower before lunch. A short
visit to a straight one street bazaar to purchase souvenirs. Collect the
storage and ready for another 2/half hour's drive to Gilgit 100km, upon
arrival check in Riveria hotel/PTDC. All meals in the hotel and O/night.
Day 08 Gilgit to Besham 09hrs, 358km, on Karakoram
highway;
Leave hotel from Gilgit the head quarter for Northern Areas
to Besham with stunning mountain views of Rakaposhi, Haramosh, Laila peak to
the three great mountain ranges confulance for 45km. Few kms drive towards
south-east of western Himalaya tallest wall face Nanga Parbat 8126m, and
ninth highest in the world mountain ranking. Passing through the old Silk
Road remains and mighty Indus River along the Indus gorge to Besham. This
journey commencing and re-presenting much of 4 to 7th BC Buddha pilgrimage's
route to the Indus civilizations Taxila. Lunch in Dassu Khohistan 198km, at
the Indus Dalta. Soon after lunch a dramatic drive about 500m, above Indus
through the Indus Khohistan via Pattan to Besham, O/night in PTDC (Pakistan
Tourism Development Corporation).
Day 09 Besham to
Rawalpindi 06hrs, 272km, on Karakoram highway to Thakot bridge the last
Indus River point 20km, 30minutes drive and from there down through the
foothills of Himalayas via green mass of NWFP (North West Frontier).
Marvelous drive over Chatar plans via Hazar divisions to Abbottabd and
Rawalpindi for another 5.30hrs, 252km. Upon arrival to Rawalpindi checked in
the hotel Shalimar Hotel for O/night.
Day 10 Transfer to
the airport for departure.

A good
sleeping bag below -1 should be comfort enough.

sun glasses/water bottle 1/2 liters/ puree tabs or
water filter.
